Nola Varns Burnam Incentive Award
The Nola Varns Burnam Incentive Award is named in honor of Nola Varns Burnam. She is
remembered for her love for, dedication to, and numerous contributions to occupational therapy and the South Dakota Occupational
Therapy Association (SDOTA).
The purpose of this award is to facilitate entrepreneurial, non-traditional, and / or emerging occupational therapy in the state
of South Dakota. To act as an incentive for further development of established practice, education, and/or professional service
to SDOTA.

Dorothy Anne Elsberry Award of Merit
DOROTHY ANNE ELSBERRY AWARD OF MERIT - The Highest Honor of the Association.
- To honor members of the South Dakota Occupational Therapy Association who have made an outstanding contribution
to the profession of occupational therapy.
- To instill in other members a desire to contribute to the development and growth of the profession and the
association.
- To focus public attention on the scope of occupational therapy to the end that many may be influenced to consider
occupational therapy as a career and profession.
- To increase awareness of occupational therapy as a health care profession whose body of knowledge and skills are
innovative in research and implementation of new approaches to increasing the quality of life for each individual
